Book Review: Rehab For Superheroes Series (1-4) by Ann Livi Andrews

Over the past months, between longer books, I’ve been treating myself to novelette morsels from the Rehab for Superheroes series by Ann Livi Andrews. Rather than blog teensy reviews each time, I decided I’d post them to Goodreads & Amazon immediately but compile them here in a single blog post when I was done. Currently there are four books published and, while the story does not yet feel concluded, the ending is satisfying. As a reader I can imagine what our group of heroes will do and how I’d like to see things play out… but if a fifth installment was forthcoming I’d jump at the chance to read it! All in all this was a highly enjoyable series (available in Kindle Unlimited HERE) which I would recommend to anyone looking for quick, satisfying tales.

Crimson Mistress (Book 1) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4 stars

Every super hero story has its own mythos, some explanation for how the hero acquired their special ability. But what about the cost of these gifts? What happens when the super power consumes the hero?

Crimson Mistress is the first in a series of novellas and follows one super heroine as she tries to elude capture by a mysterious man, intent on claiming her powers… or maybe he only plans to lay claim to her?

This is a quick and entertaining read and I look forward to more in the series.

Jack (Book 2) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4 stars

A nice addition to the series. This was a super fast, super fun read. I can’t wait to see what’s next for Ms. Andrews’ rag-tag group of heroes.

Jack and Quinn (aka Crimson Mistress) have a tenuous, delicate relationship but together they must try to escape the clutches of Michael and his experiments. Doing so, however, means Jack must place his trust in his (possibly?) villainous brother Jesse. Intriguing!

Em (Book 3) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4 stars

So many new questions!

I really enjoyed Em’s backstory, the deep mystery of her artifact and power. The aftershocks of Quinn & Jack’s rescue and their reaction to joining another mysterious group determined to keep them separate from society were interesting to explore. Another nice read!

Dakota (Book 4) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 4.5 stars

This is my favorite installment yet! Dakota’s backstory and the experiments he was subjected to were chilling! Of all the superheroes introduced, his powers were he most intriguing. And the way Dakota brought all out heroes together for a common cause (dealing with Michael) was well executed. The ending definitely leaves room for more story and I’d be thrilled if Ms. Andrews treats us to another installment.
