Release Day! Fly by Night (Criminal Elements Book 2) by Cris & Clare Meyers

It’s a big weekend for Indie Authors! Today is the release day for Fly by Night, book 2 in the Criminal Elements series and written by the dynamic duo of Cris & Clare Meyers.

I’m so excited! I snapped up my copy this morning and will be digging in soon as I finish a beta read commitment (less obligation and more honor, really, but that’s another story). 🤓

Book blurb from Amazon:

The game has changed.

Rook is a wisecracking hacker, a shapeshifter who prefers the name ‘were-crow,’ and former underling to a Talented crime boss. But as supernatural powers go, he’s no heavy hitter.

After a job blew up in his face, Rook thought the worst thing he’d have to deal with was criminal unemployment. But when he starts losing his mind to mysterious voices, being broke takes a backseat. And once his apartment goes up in smoke, Rook knows he’s in trouble.

Out of his depth and trying to dig his way out of a hole not entirely of his own making, Rook must put his survival—and his sanity—in the hands of people who have their own mysterious reasons for helping him.

With trust in short supply and time ticking down, Rook will need to find a way to make this uneasy alliance work before even more of his life goes up in flames.

Book Review: Sweet Discovery (Jessica Sweet Trilogy Book 2) by Aliya DalRae

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5 out of 5 stars

Ebook release date: April 2, 2017

Please join Aliya for her Facebook Release Party this Sunday.

Holy guacamole! Aliya DalRae has done it again. This second installment of the Jessica Sweet trilogy ratchets up the angst and drama while staying true to Jessica’s quirky nature and wry humor.

Things are not all wine & roses for Jessica and Raven. Women are dying, found murdered (annihilated, really) in a manner not seen since Raven’s former bad-boy self ‘The Rapist’ was in action. Top it off with the fact that Jessica’s had a vision showing Raven-The-Rapist in action, and you’ll understand what I mean when I say things between them are a tad stressed.

I love love loved the fact that we got to spend time in this book with both King Cat / Malcolm and Harrier. Being in their headspace was fun. These two males brought so much to the story this time! Not to mention they’re both sexy-as-sin. I call that a win-win.

One of my fave aspects of Ms. DalRae’s writing are her short, punchy chapters. I hate having to put a book down mid-chapter, so this works for me. What didn’t work for me, per se, was the “one more chapter” mentality at bedtime… since they’re short and completely engaging chapters I kept saying one more until next thing I knew it was pretty much morning! Curses! But it was so worth it.

**I recieved an electronic ARC of this book from the author which I then chose to voluntarily review**

Paperbacks of Sweet Discovery are available on Amazon now, or check back Sunday for your e-book (also in Kindle Unlimited). Don’t forget about her Release Party! It’s gonna be sweet!

Book Review: Exposed by Alex Carver

⭐⭐⭐⭐💫4.5 out of 5 stars

This is the second short story (28 pages) I’ve read by Alex Carver, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. In very short order and with concise narration, we learn a lot about Julian. I loved the twist of this ‘unique’ individual living such a mundane life and would’ve appreciated seeing that expounded on more, but at the same time the story looses nothing without it. If you enjoy revenge tales with a sprinkling of supernatural this one’s for you!

Pick up your copy HERE, and while you’re at it check out Alex’s other works. There’s bound to be a promo or two going on this weekend (3/31-4/2/17) plus his newest book “Written in Blood” is available for pre-order until April 1st for only 99¢. Don’t miss out!

Book Review: The Golden Supremacy (The Golden Desires Series, Book 2) by Ann Pratley

⭐⭐⭐⭐💫 4.5 out of 5 stars

Isn’t that cover just delicious? Stunning!

In this second installment of the Golden Desires series, Ms. Pratley delivers another captivating tale. While the first book focused on romance and the mystical, this story focuses more on conflict and intrigue. It is a fast read, at just under 200 pages, but it covers a lot of ground. The narrative is lush, Ms. Pratley’s prose quite befitting of the old-world society she has created.

After events in the first book, Isabella and Trent settle into their life as a married couple. Meanwhile Adrian, steadfast in his friendship with Isabella, yearns for someone with whom he can find such happiness. Life is simple and good. Among their friends and fellow villagers, however, a dangerous enemy hides in plain sight.

I appreciate that the ending of this book, like its predecessor, is not a nail-biting cliffhanger. Yes, there is still story to be told, but one is able to appreciate the conclusion for what it is: a golden promise.

**I recieved a paperback ARC of this book from the author which I then chose to voluntarily review**

If you’re looking to score your own copy, it’s available in paperback and ebook on Amazon.

Book Review: Reclamation by Sandy Frediani

⭐⭐⭐⭐💫 4.5 out of 5 stars

This was an interesting novella. Four chapters, four distinct stories, yet all intertwined into a cohesive whole. I was intrigued from the outset, through to the very last words.

This story blends together feelings of medieval history, nomadic tribes, and modernity across generations with a shimmering gossamer thread. Beautifully stitched!

This story is hard to classify. Is it fantasy? Historical fiction? Fairy tale? All of the above? I’ll just encourage you to read it for yourself!  Check it out HERE.

Book Review: Michael’s Passion (A Series of Angels, Book 1) by Joel Crofoot

😇😈😇😈😇 5 out of 5 stars

Angels, demons, sins, self-doubt & redemption… there’s a lot going on in this short book (182 pages). And I loved every second of it!

Joel Crofoot has the start of something great with this first book in “A Series of Angels.” In short order we are introduced to Michael and Gabriel, familiar biblical Archangels, but painted in a light which you’ve never before seen them. We get to glimpse the hidden pain and loss of the two seemingly indomitable warriors. These superhuman beings are so essentially human that we, as the reader, can almost feel their pain. When Michael encounters Jahi, the “demon whore” whose power of seduction is legendary, sparks fly. Michael feels drawn to her in a way he has never, in his centuries of existence, felt before… despite the fact that his sole purpose in life has been eliminating demons like Jahi and sending them back to the pit. While Michael questions his new feelings and defends Jahi from his, understandably skeptical, brothers-in-arms, Jahi is left wondering how much of Michael’s reaction to her is genuine and how much is influenced by her demonic powers. How could an angel ever trust a demon, let alone love one?

Something big is coming. I don’t want to give away too much story, but suffice it to say that Jahi is more important than anyone realizes. If Michael, Gabriel, and their three trainee “angelings” can manage to keep her safe, they just might stand a chance.

While we’re talking about supporting cast members, the three young angels were a great addition! But Butator was, by far and away, my favorite! His awkward earnestness and open-hearted nature were truly endearing and I really hope he will grace pages in the next installment(s). Another notable point: the Father. While ‘the big guy’ makes only a couple, small appearances, there is no doubt about the fear, awe, reverence and unquestioned loyalty his angels hold for him. There are hints of heavenly politics, the repercussions of which we will hopefully encounter in future stories.

If you’re looking for a fast, steamy read packed with hunky angels and plenty of action, look no further. You can get your copy HERE (free if you’re in Kindle Unlimited).

Book Review: Mercy, Bound, Released (Complete Trilogy) by Natalie Bennett

⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4 out of 5 stars

The title says it all: dark erotica indeed. Holy cow! If you’re not prepared to stare into darkness, this book is not for you! Consider yourself warned.

Morgana and Julian are two very broken people. And the way they feed off of and into each other is a mobius strip of torment, but they just can’t seem to get enough.

The first part, Mercy, was by far my favorite. As the story continued in Bound & Released, though, I felt like some of the momentum was lost. I still clung to the pages, waiting to see how things would go, but a little of the magic had worn off.

There are so many twists to his story! I applaud Ms. Bennett’s audacity in telling such a dark tale and for an ending which, while shocking, feels right for the narrative.

If you’re in the mood for darkness and danger, you can pick up Mercy, Bound, Released on Kindle Unlimited HERE.
